I am a local artist in my fifties who has worked in a variety of materials over the years. I have painted several interior murals, mostly for children’s rooms, however this is my first time painting a storm drain (or any outdoor mural for that matter). When I heard about this project I saw it as a fun way to help the Vancouver Watersheds Alliance in their effort to educate the community on how to prevent pollution of our storm water. I don’t think everyone is aware that this water pours directly into our rivers and streams without passing through any treatment facility. I also think it is a great opportunity for both children and adults to see artist at work. I hope families will come down to Main Street to watch the murals being painted.
